07/15 – Present: Operations Worker, Dublin Simon Community
Main responsibilities and significant features of the post:
• Developing a trusting relationship with residents in a range of Dublin Simon Community services, including high-support housing, medium-support housing and emergency accommodation.
• Teaching residents a variety of skills, including English literacy, computer skills and art.
• Providing interventions with residents when required across a number of topics, including mental health, homelessness, addiction, health, relationships and child protection.
• Performed administrative duties including medication management, updating employee timesheets, coordinating resident appointments and general office maintenance.
• Liaising with volunteers for delivery of service, providing leadership and mentoring where appropriate.
• Ensuring policies, procedures and guidelines are compliant and up to date with best-practice across the sector.
6. Professional Experience: History
06/14 – 07/15 to date: Students’ Union Welfare Officer, Trinity College Dublin
• One of five full-time leaders of the Students' Union elected by the 17,000 students of Trinity College Dublin.
• Held position of student representative at Trinity College sitting on its Board (governing body) and a number of committees with responsibility for the development and implementation of various university policies.
• Provided a confidential support and referral service offering one-to-one support for students on any type of issue including mental health, finance, physical health and accommodation. Dealt with an average of 20 on going individual cases per week.
• Coordinated Trinity’s Accommodation Advisory Service, assisting over 2,000 individual students successfully find accommodation during Dublin’s 2014 Accommodation Crisis.
• Appointed and managed 4 staff members in the Accommodation Advisory Service and coordinated a volunteer force of 200 people.
• Created and implemented college-wide campaigns with a budget of €30,000 on mental health, equality, sexual health, self-esteem, student wellbeing and others.
• Secured over €80,000 in additional funding from college for disadvantaged students.
• Researched, wrote and implemented policies for the Students’ Union and Trinity College on Drug Usage and Sexual Consent among students.
• Assisted in registering over 3,500 students to vote and successfully led campaigning with TCDSU in favour of the 2015 same-sex marriage referendum.
• Overhauled and restructured the Welfare Committee for the first time since its formation.
• Conducted reviews and reports on student experience and wellbeing in multiple academic courses in Trinity College Dublin, and oversaw the redevelopment of the courses.
04/13 - 06/14: President of Student2Student Peer Network, Trinity College Dublin
• Responsible for recruiting and coordinating over 700 volunteers who provided group support to incoming first year students and one-on-one support to students on request.
• Facilitated training sessions in mentoring and active listening for new volunteers.
• Engaged with volunteers, other universities, non-governmental organisations and charities on increasing student retention rates and organising events focused on improving student mental health and wellbeing.

• Recruited and coordinated over 100 volunteer class representatives.
